Judging Othello’s constantly changing behavior in the play, it is evident as to why this syndrome of “delusional jealousy” (Duell) is named after him. Othello syndrome is a psychiatric condition in which one is paranoid, to an unreasonable degree, of his or her partner committing an unfaithful act. The play “Othello” suggests Othello himself possessed the symptoms of this syndromes, as he murdered his beloved Desdemona out of jealousy triggered by Iago’s manipulation.
